A little chance. A lot of possibility.

About Virtual Dice Roller

Simple dice for game nights, lessons and creative play. Clear controls, readable results and no account required.

What this website offers

Virtual Dice Roller brings simple, free dice tools into one place. Every tool runs in your browser, with no download, sign-up or advertising.

Who it is for

The tools are built for board game players who have lost a die, tabletop roleplayers who need several dice at once, teachers who want dice the whole room can see, and anyone who needs a quick, fair random choice. Nothing on the site requires an account, so it can be used in classrooms without collecting pupils’ details.

How results are generated

Every result comes from your browser’s cryptographic random number generator (the Web Crypto API). Each die is a separate draw. Rejection sampling discards the small number of raw values that would make some sides slightly more likely than others, so every side has exactly the same chance.

Animation illustrates a result; it never determines it. If your browser cannot provide secure random numbers, the tool shows an error instead of guessing. The roller is meant for casual games and learning, not for certified gambling. See the disclaimer for details.

How our content is produced

Each page explains what a tool does, how to use it and the math behind it. Instructions describe the tools exactly as they behave on the site, and probability figures, such as the two-dice totals table, are calculated from the full set of possible outcomes rather than estimated.

Pages are drafted with the help of software tools, including AI writing assistance, and are checked by the site operator against the working tools before they are published.

How the tools are checked

Before changes go live, the dice logic is run through automated tests with fixed inputs, covering every range limit, modifier, advantage and disadvantage rule. Each page is also tested in a browser on mobile and desktop screen sizes, with a keyboard and with reduced motion turned on.

Editorial principles

  • Accuracy: we describe only features that exist and show math that you can check.
  • Plain language: instructions use short sentences and everyday words, so they work for students and new players.
  • Independence: the site has no advertisers, sponsors or affiliate links, and no game publisher or software company reviews our pages.
  • Accessibility: every tool works with a keyboard, announces results to screen readers and respects reduced-motion settings.
  • Privacy: the tools work without accounts, analytics or tracking cookies. See the Privacy Policy.

Reviews and corrections

Pages are reviewed whenever a tool changes. If you spot a mistake, a broken feature or something that is hard to use, please tell us through the contact page. We check every report, and when an error is confirmed we correct the page.

Ownership and independence

Virtual Dice Roller is an independent website at virtualdiceroller.co. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the publishers of Dungeons & Dragons, Google or Microsoft. Product names appear only to explain how the tools can be used alongside them.
