A little chance. A lot of possibility.

Privacy Policy

Virtual Dice Roller is built to need as little personal data as possible. Your rolls stay in your browser, and the site uses no accounts, analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.

To be completed by the site owner: the legal name and postal address of the person or business that operates virtualdiceroller.co (the data controller).

Information we collect

Server logs

When your browser requests a page or file, our web server automatically records your IP address, the date and time, the address requested, the response status and size, the referring page and your browser’s user-agent string. If a request fails, the server’s error log may record similar details.

Email you send us

If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write.

Your cookie choice

When you choose an option in the cookie banner, your browser saves that choice in its local storage under the name vdr-consent. It contains only your choices and the date you made them. It stays on your device and is not sent to us. See the Cookie Policy.

Rolls, settings and custom labels

Roll history, dice settings and any labels you type are kept only in the memory of the open tab. They are not stored on your device or sent to our server, and they disappear when you reload or close the page.

Why we use it

  • Server logs: to deliver pages, keep the site secure, investigate abuse and fix errors.
  • Email: to read and reply to your message and to act on any request you make.
  • Cookie choice: to remember your decision so the banner does not appear on every page.

How your data is stored and protected

The website is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections. Server logs are stored on a virtual private server rented from Hostinger, and only the site’s administrators can access them.

Email sent to our address passes through our domain registrar’s email forwarding service (Namecheap) and is delivered to the inbox we use to answer messages.

Third-party services

We use the following providers to run the website. Pages do not load fonts, scripts, images or other files from any other company.

Service providers
ProviderWhat it doesPersonal data involved
HostingerHosts the server that runs the websiteServer logs stored on that server

Analytics, advertising and cookies

We do not use analytics, advertising, social media widgets or any other tracking. We do not set cookies. The cookie banner lets you record a choice in advance, so no optional service could load without your consent if one were ever added. Read the Cookie Policy for the full list of what is stored.

How long we keep data

  • Server access logs are rotated when the file reaches 10 MB, and rotated files are deleted after 10 days. Because rotation depends on traffic, an entry can stay in the current log for longer than 10 days.
  • Server error logs are rotated when the file reaches 10 MB.
  • Emails are kept only as long as needed to deal with your message and any follow-up.
  • Your cookie choice stays on your device for 12 months, or until you clear your browser’s site data, after which you will be asked again.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data. For example, you may be able to ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

To make a request, email contact@virtualdiceroller.co. Server logs identify visitors only by IP address, so we may ask for details such as the IP address you used and the date of your visit to find the right entries.

Children

The tools are suitable for classroom use and do not ask anyone for personal information. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children other than the technical server logs that every visit creates.

Changes to this policy

If our data practices change, for example if a new service is added, we will update this page and the effective date above before the change takes effect.
